Go to Outer Space at the Ecotarium Planetarium in Worcester

If you didn’t go to a planetarium as a kid, you definitely missed out. But it’s not too late — in fact, there’s never been a better time than now to visit one. The EcoTarium in Worcester has a cutting-edge planetarium that’s light-years beyond what planetariums were a generation ago. Here are just some of the reasons why the planetarium in Worcester is worth a visit:

A State-of-the-Art Planetarium

The EcoTarium’s planetarium is entirely digital, which makes for a cooler, more high-tech experience than planetariums of the past. It was the first all-digital planetarium in Massachusetts.

It’s an extra $5 to enter the planetarium on top of the entree price of the EcoTarium, but it’s entirely worth it. The planetarium uses projected images from NASA and the Hubble Space Telescope to create a three-dimensional, 360-degree experience. Add in the BOSE surround sound system and you have an experience like no other.

Thanks to a partnership with National Geographic, it offers many programs that will educate people of all ages.

A Preview of the Planetarium Programming

From asteroids to the Moon to deep space, the programs at the planetarium cover enough ground to spark anyone’s interest in outer space.

Back to the Moon For Good is a film chronicling Google’s $300 million contest to incentivize private companies to develop technology to bring a person back to the Moon.

Passport to the Universe, narrated by Tom Hanks, takes viewers into deep space to get a close-up view of other stars, black holes, asteroids and more, using actual images from space.

Mysteries of the Unseen World will blow your mind by highlighting only the things all around us that we don’t perceive — ultraviolet light, Gamma rays, radio waves and more. Visitors get to see why it’d be like looking through the eyes of a mosquito, which sees in infrared, and as a bee, which sees in ultraviolet wavelengths.

These are just some of the reasons you should definitely check the EcoTarium’s planetarium out. Bring a youngster along, if you can, to pique his or her interest in the vastness of the universe. You never know — they might grow up to be the next Einstein.
